Services and Programs
Rehabilitation
Physical therapy is a critical factor in
recovery from surgery and sports-related injuries. Our rehabilitation experts
use state-of-the-art techniques and equipment to help every athlete restore
function at or above the previous level as quickly as possible.
Physical therapists, physical therapist
assistants and certified athletic trainers work as part of a multidisciplinary
team to provide sports injury treatment and rehabilitation under the direction
of a Sports Care physician.
Land-Based Therapy
More information
At
our main Sports Care facility in Wildwood Medical Center,
athletes are guided through each therapy regimen in a 5,000 sq. ft. rehabilitation
therapy theater with state-of-the-art equipment. The facility also includes a
40,000 sq. ft. attached fitness facility, full-size basketball court and indoor
track used for sport-specific conditioning and other programs.
Aquatic Therapy
More information
Designed
for each athlete’s rehabilitation needs, aquatic therapy provides the
resistance to rebuild muscle strength, dynamic stability, range of motion and
endurance while eliminating the impact stress that can cause re-injury. Aquatic
therapy is performed in the 60-foot-long therapy pool at the Sports Care
facility in Wildwood Medical Center.
Manual Therapy
More information
Restoring
the strength, agility and range of motion for on-demand athletic performance –
without re-injury – typically requires special hands-on therapy. Skilled
therapists use manual techniques to evaluate and treat posture imbalances. The
latest mobilization techniques are used to address joint and soft tissue
problems. Therapists also regularly measure
each athlete’s progress throughout the rehabilitation process.
Functional Rehabilitation for Accelerated
Return to Play
More information
Sport-specific
training focuses on the unique physical demands of the recovering athlete’s
sport. This training helps athletes with sports-related injuries regain the strength,
special conditioning and confidence they need for faster – and safer – return
to play.
Athletic
Training
In the clinic and in sports
settings, our certified athletic trainers identify and manage sports-related
injuries. Our community outreach program puts these professionals where the
action is to help prevent injuries and provide care immediately when injuries
occur.
Sports Care certified athletic
trainers provide on-site services to high schools and colleges throughout
northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan and follow the injured athlete from
on-field assessment through rehabilitation and return to play. See our client portfolio.
Game/Community Event Coverage
More information
From
football to volleyball, Sports Care physicians and athletic trainers are on the
scene at many local schools and community events to offer assistance and
medical attention to athletes and coaches.
Athlete Assessments
More information
Sports
Care performs annual pre-participation physicals throughout the year to evaluate
athletes’ health and detect any potential for injury as early as possible. Our athletic
trainers assist in preseason injury assessments and concussion screens as part
of each player’s pre-participation physical.
Coaches Clinics
More information

Coaches Edge program provides coaches with information on a variety of
sport-specific topics through interactive lectures and hands-on demonstrations.
Injury prevention and preseason/in-season training effectiveness are key
components.
Sports

Speed/Agility/Quickness Training

RISK of Injury Screening & Sports Biomechanics
More information
Utilizing a cutting-edge functional biomechanics screening system, individual clients, entire teams, or entire athletic programs are screened for their functional predisposition to injury. Although a large focus of this screening program centers around risk of ACL knee injury, the system is also utilized to identify dysfunctional biomechanics in other joints or regions of the body. The results of this screening are then utilized to assist the athlete, coach, therapist, or physician in developing an appropriate intervention strategy to help minimize the risk of injury or improve rehabilitation of an existing injury.
“Return to Play” Bridge Program
More information
Designed to coincide with a recovering athlete’s release from traditional physical therapy (or as intervention in cases of limited insurance coverage), this specialized sport-specific “return-to-play” functional training program focuses on the unique physical demands of the recovering athlete’s sport. When an athlete is not 100% ready to meet the demands of “on-field” or “on-court” practice and play once he or she is finished with traditional physical therapy, this guided program helps athletes with sports-related injuries regain the strength, special conditioning and confidence they need for faster, and safer, return to play.
